Crucial T500 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD Review

Performance

The performance has been tested on the AMD Ryzen platform that contains the Ryzen 5 7600, 6-core processor, Gigabyte B650E Master motherboard, 48GB DDR5-7200@6000 memory kit, and Acer Predator GM7000 2TB M.2 SSD with installed Win11 Pro x64. All tests were performed on the Crucial T500 2TB SSD.

Let’s begin as usual with the ATTO Disk Benchmark.

As usual in the ATTO benchmark, results are not as high as we wish, but the read bandwidth is close to 7GB/s, and the write is around 6.55GB/s. Both results are high, no matter how we look at them.

In CrystalDiskMark, we can already see high performance as expected, or even better. The sequential bandwidth exceeds 7.4GB/s, while the low queue 4K random read is over 90MB/s, and IOPS up to 1200K. This is all we need, as these results place the T500 on top of the PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD for gaming!

In PCMark 10, the results are also surprisingly good. The Data Drive Benchmark shows the highest result we have seen on a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD – 1118MB/s. The T700, which is a PCIe 5.0 x4 SSD, could reach flat 1200MB/s, while most competitive SSDs can’t pass 800MB/s.

3DMark Storage Benchmark also shows the best result in its class.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a rather old benchmark but is still popular. This benchmark usually shows lower results than the ATTO or the CrystalDiskMark. It doesn’t change the fact that the results are pretty high.

In the end, the AIDA64 Disk Benchmark results in random read and write operations.

Both results are very high. The only faster M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD in AIDA64 that I remember is Kingston Renegade, which loses in all other benchmarks.

The T500 SSD wasn’t throttling at all in all our tests. The temperature was quite low – around 50°C, as reported by Hwinfo64. Temperatures, lack of any issues during work, and amazing performance make the T500 one of the best SSDs on the current market.
