Kingston XS1000 2TB Portable SSD Review

Product Photos and a Closer Look

The package is a small box in the same style as most new Kingston products. It’s simple but looks professional and is enough to protect the drive for the transport time.

The XS1000 SSD also looks simple but stylish. It seems about the same as the XS2000 SSD released over a year ago. It’s pretty small, and we can carry it in our pocket without more significant problems.
The SSD is small and light, perfect for everyday use. I only wish that the USB cable was somehow built in as it takes as much space as the SSD itself, and together, it’s hard to carry it in pants pockets.

On the front is a Kingston logotype, and on the back is a label with product and serial numbers, all the certificates, and general specifications like the drive’s capacity. Nothing unusual.

In the package, there is also a short USB-C to USB-A cable that is optimized for high bandwidth. In our tests, we could pass 1000MB/s, so it works well. Because of the standard USB connectors, we can use other cables, longer or shorter, and USB-C to USB-C cable if required. We must remember that we need a high-quality cable to use the drive at full speed.

On the next page, we will take a closer look at test results.
