MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Review

Verdict and Conclusion

From the results shown in our previous pages, there’s no question that the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition is quite a card. It produce excellent scores in all of our tests, coming out on top against the Geforce GTX 560 Ti OC from Gigabyte, which incidently also uses the same overclocked GPU at 900Mhz. So the only difference between the two cards is the slightly overclocked memory on the MSI card, which is clocked at 2100Mhz (4200Mhz effective) I guess it made all the difference.

Now comes the important question. Is the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition worth the extra cost over other Geforce GTX 60 Ti cards? Well, the Twin Frozr II thermal solution from MSI is not just a gimmick, it actually does help in lowering the overall temperature of the graphics card.

It features dual 8cm PWM Fans and aunique all-copper cooling design that consists of 4 copper heatpipes, nickel-plated copper base and a large array of copper fins. All this offers better heat dissipation and faster heat transfer. During our full load tests, we managed to get an average temperature reading of 48-52 degrees Celsius, which is a lot lower than we expected … so well done to MSI for that.

It’s hard to comment of the packaging of the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition … that’s because the sample received didn’t come with any. But I’m sure MSI would make sure that this “Golden Edition” would come complete, with everything you need to get going. That, of course would include the usual DVI-to-VGA converter, mini-HDMI to standard HDMI adaptor and spare PCI-E power cables.

One of MSI’s most successful marketing strategies include the notion that some of their products uses “Military Class” components. The MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition is one such product. These so called “Military Class” components include the SFC (Super Ferrite Choke), which offers higher current for better overclocking ability, as well as the all solid capacitors, which give a longer lifespan, while the Hi-C capacitors allows more precise voltage tweaking. But that’s not it … for the extreme overclocking enthusiasts, MSI have included their Afterburner overclocking utility, which should allow you to overclock the graphics card even higher.

The MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II Golden Edition with all its special features will cost a little more than your standard Geforce GTX 560 Ti on the market. The all-copper cooling design has some what contributed to the bulk of the cost. A recent search on the internet suggests the price to be around USD $280 (GBP 220), which I think is acceptable.

Final words:

At this point, I can only say the one word … Congratulations! to MSI for producing one of the fastest Geforce GTX 560Ti graphics card on the market. It offers excellent performance thanks to it overclocked GPU, and what’s more, the all-copper cooling design of Golden Edition really helps with lowering the overall temperature.
