Vortex Core Mini Keyboard Review

Verdict & Conclusion

First off, you really need to take time to familiarize yourself with Vortex’s Core mechanical keyboard, putting in weeks of memorizing the key layout, the layering and tuning you muscle reflexes. It can be frustrating at first using the Core, but put in the time and effort you will appreciate the convenience of having such a small keyboard and start to wonder why you relied on big full sized keyboards.

With black Cherry switches, the Core isn’t designed for gaming, but for regular typing it is brilliant to work with. I normally type around 65-70 WPM, this did drop by a fair bit when I initially used the Core, with lots of typing inaccuracies, but having started to get use to the layout and layering, my typing speed has matched my original speed, and I’m sure given a few more weeks I can even top this.

The biggest selling point of the Core has to be its portability. Weighing in at 400 grammes and its tiny size, the Core will fit in any briefcase or backpack and you would hardly notice it there.

Sure, in our modern age the Core does lack some features such as programmability or fancy lighting, but the Core is not about that at all, but gets its job done fantastically.
