Introducing Plugable’s DockTag Technology
The UD-7400PD is the first docking station to feature Plugable’s DockTag™, a web-based solution designed for faster resolution of IT problems through improved remote support and user self-diagnosis. The feature offers improved reliability for the smart IT-managed device.
DockTag™ displays a dynamic splash screen when the dock is powered but not connected to a host with context-aware messages such as “Please connect host computer,” or “Please install DisplayLink software,” depending on the connection status. Each screen includes a QR code that enables user self-diagnosis with access to tailored setup instructions, driver downloads, or support resources specific to the dock.
This system also surfaces key identifiers like serial number, MAC address, and model number to make asset tracking simple and efficient. Through the DockTag™ web portal, IT administrators can register and manage docking stations remotely, schedule maintenance, and track hardware over time without any local software required.
Beyond asset management, DockTag™ supports hotdesking. Users can reserve workstations on the spot by scanning a dock’s QR code, enabling real-time workspace visibility and usage tracking.
