ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Sica Mouse and Whetstone Mouse Pad

For years, people have tried to replace the keyboard and mouse by making so-called superior gaming controllers (even I’ve tried… everything), and yet they are still here. Gamers want superior controls, and the keyboard plus mouse combination is simply unbeatable to this day. The key reasons for their superiority are the speed and precision, as new technology becomes available, these are the exact reasons why new weapons are continually forged for you to take into battle. ASUS ROG has just added Sica and Whetstone to the peripherals portfolio. The Sica mouse is named after a short sword or a larger dagger, while the Whetstone mouse pad is named after the tool used for sharpening weapons, thus making them a perfect match.

These follow suit with the ROG Gladius as that was named after a light infantry sword, and they all come with easy-swap switch sockets compatible with ultra-durable Omron switches, and the buttons are separate from the body for superior responsiveness, control and durability. They both come in classic ROG red and black with the Mayan-patterned grip. You can customize all of these and program the buttons with the proprietary Armory Software.

With these mice you now have options, so you can choose the right weapon for the job and for you, to accommodate hands with different shapes, sizes, and hand grips. Our new lineup of premium gaming mice are the Gladius and Sica. Sica is made specifically to be more accommodating for the finger grip.  For massive multiplayer online role-playing games and massive online battle arena games such as League of Legends (gameplay), the right mouse button is used more often (as opposed to the left in most other genres), a smaller mouse is more appropriate for the finger grip because the middle finger can reach further. This mouse is the most portable, and ambidextrous so the experience is equally effective for left handers. And also the smaller body makes it particularly suitable for female gamers or people who often find mice simply too big.

Sica features a 5000DPI optical sensor, capable of speeds up to 130 inches per second and 30g acceleration for ultimate speed and precision. An improved exclusive easy-swap switch socket design lets you change switches and customize click resistance without removing any pads. With a pulsing ROG logo, gold-plated USB 2.0 connector, low-friction Teflon feet and stickers making it a complete package.

But whatever tech is onboard the mouse, ultimately a suitable companion for a mouse is just as important. That’s where ROG Whetstone comes in, a new 2mm design that makes this firm and fast like playing on glass, yet you can roll it up to put in your backpack, best of both worlds. The Mayan patterned canvas is bonded to the silicone base using an 8-stage process, and there are fray-resistant round edges to guarantee quality and durability. Silicone has superior grip compared to rubber, odorless and since the mouse mat has a water-resistant coating, it can be washed and dried easily. For the finishing touch, the ROG logo is laser cut into the canvas, revealing the red silicone base underneath.  Whether you get the Gladius or Sica, the Whetstone is a perfect match both aesthetically and for performance.
