Leaked Photos of Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Xtreme Shows Two PCIe 5.0 x16 Slots

Now that’s very interesting … I expected DDR5 to be launched along side Intel’s Z690 chipest and 12th Gen Alder Lake processors, but not PCIE 5.0. Notice the extra pins for PCIE 5.0 slot.

Taken from Videocardz … Gigabyte is launching AORUS Z690 XTREME Gaming board with PCIe Gen5 and DDR5 support on November 4th. This is the flagship design featuring all the bells and whistles that the company has to offer. This is also an Extended ATX form factor design and is often reserved for high-end SKUs such as the AORUS series.

The specs we received do not mention the maximum overclocked DDR5 memory support, only that the board is compatible with JEDEC 4800 MT/s standard. What is interesting though is the cover for the memory, which might help cover the ugly DIMMs first-gen DDR5 till something more powerful and better-looking pops up on the market.

The Z690 XTREME offers three PCIe x16 slots, but only two conform to the Gen5 standard. They cannot be used simultaneously because they share the bandwidth with the primary slot, hence it will be limited to x8 width. The third slot is only Gen3.

In terms of connectivity, the board is equipped with a Marvell AQC113C 10GbE LAN chip as well as Intel 2.5Gbe NICs, with the addition of WiFi6 wireless connectivity. There is a Thunderbolt 4 connector supporting up to 5K 60 Hz display. In total, there are three M.2 slots for storage.
