Schenker Unveils XMG FOCUS 17 Performance Notebook

With the XMG FOCUS 17, XMG presents a laptop that is unusual in several respects, combining a 17.3-inch display in 16:9 format with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. The choice of form factor reflects continued strong demand for this specific screen size and aspect ratio. Positioned below the XMG PRO 16 in terms of pricing, the FOCUS 17 features a WQHD display with 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage and a 240 Hz refresh rate. Customers can choose between an Intel Core i9-14900HX or i9-13900HX processor.

To position the XMG FOCUS 17 in the sub-€2,000 price range, XMG is offering two 24-core, 32-thread CPUs from Intel’s previous Raptor Lake HX generation: the Core i9-13900HX and its refresh, the Core i9-14900HX. The key difference between the two lies in the slightly higher boost clock of the 14900HX, reaching up to 5.8 GHz compared to 5.4 GHz. Both CPUs continue to deliver excellent gaming performance while being significantly more cost-effective than the newer Core Ultra 9 275HX.

Graphics performance is provided by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM and the maximum specified graphics power of 140 watts including Dynamic Boost. The GPU stands out for its great price-performance ratio – especially when compared to the RTX 5080 and 5090 – and is capable of 4K gaming thanks to features such as DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation. In contrast, smaller GPUs with only 8 GB of VRAM often fall short in many games at this display resolution.

The chassis of the XMG FOCUS 17 measures 397 x 265.1 x 24.9 mm at the front, rising to 28.6 mm at the rear. It weighs 2.79 kg including a 73 Wh battery and features an aluminium display lid for improved rigidity.

The 17.3-inch laptop format is rather uncommon in 2025: “Large-format laptops with a 16:9 display have become rare in 2025 – particularly those featuring GPUs from the RTX 50 series. However, our decision to introduce the XMG FOCUS 17 with a 17.3-inch screen followed a lengthy phase during the RTX 50 launch, in which a surprising number of customers repeatedly requested exactly this form factor,” explains Robert Schenker, CEO of Schenker Technologies.

WQHD Display with 100% DCI-P3 and 240 Hz, up to 96 GB RAM and Two SSD Slots
The 16:9 IPS panel of the XMG FOCUS 17 offers a WQHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a brightness of 300 nits. It covers 100% of both the sRGB and extended DCI-P3 colour space. The display is connected via a MUX switch, allowing it to be permanently switched to the NVIDIA dGPU. Above the screen, XMG integrates a Full HD webcam with temporal noise reduction and a physical privacy shutter.

In addition to two M.2 SSD slots with PCI Express 4.0 x4, the XMG FOCUS 17 features two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM – with up to 64 GB running at 5600 MT/s or 96 GB at 5200 MT/s. Thermal pads ensure improved SSD temperatures, while memory modules with higher heat output – such as dual-rank, double-sided modules – are also equipped with additional thermal pads.

Many Ports on the Back of the Laptop and Optional Wi-Fi 7
Like many other XMG laptops from 2025, the FOCUS 17 groups a range of external ports on the rear. These include a Gigabit Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbps bandwidth, the power connector, and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with integrated DisplayPort 2.1 (DP80). On the sides, XMG has positioned USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, as well as another USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, also featuring integrated DisplayPort 2.1 (DP80) and additional Power Delivery support with 100 watts. This setup enables the XMG FOCUS 17 to natively connect up to three external monitors, with all three video outputs wired directly to the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card. Wireless connectivity is handled via Wi-Fi 6E or optional Wi-Fi 7.

In addition to a keyboard with a full numeric keypad, full-size arrow keys, Fn lock function and multi-colour customisable backlighting, the FOCUS 17 features a 150 x 90 mm Microsoft Precision-compliant touchpad with a glass-like mylar surface.

Pricing and Availability
The base configuration of the XMG FOCUS 17 (M25), which can be freely configured on bestware.com, includes an Intel Core i9-13900HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 16 (2x 8) GB DDR5-5600 RAM, a 500 GB SSD and a 240 Hz 1440p IPS display. The starting price is €1,849, including 19% VAT. An upgrade to Intel’s Core i9-14900HX is available for €100. While the Core i9-14900HX version will remain available in the long term, XMG is making the duration of availability of the cheaper Core i9-13900HX model dependent on demand.
