Last year our senior editor Wing Lui reviewed the UBOX 3. He liked it very much and give it our Editor’s Choice award. Well, it’s now 2018 and to kick-off the new year, I decided to get the latest version for our new office … the UBOX 4. I’ve been meaning to get one of these TV boxes for a while, and luckily my timing was perfect, as they only recently released the 4th generation UBOX a few months ago (hence the name UBOX 4). It now features an 8-core CPU plus a dedicated GPU, as well as 1GB DDR3 ram and 16GB flash ram.
We’ll be connecting this unit to our 55″ LED TV to check out all the channels that it has to offer, and to see what’s it like for streaming content at 1080p Full HD via wifi.

The UBOX 4
The unit is compact and small, weighing in at only 1.12 pounds and measures 118mm on all sides. I haven’t see other colours on the market … currently only available in white.
For connectivity, there are 2 x USB ports, 1 x SD Card slot, 1 x 100MB LAN, HDMI output and a AV jack. Other accessories include, a HDMI cable, 2 x AAA batteries and of course the remote control.
The first thing to do is to change the default language to English. You can do that by selecting the settings dial (second image, bottom left). Next of course, is to connect the UBOX 4 to the internet via Wifi or LAN.
To access all the movies, TV series, documentaries, sports and cartoons … just select “UBVOD” which stands for UnBlock Video On Demand. The VIP movie (adult channel) can be accessed via a 4 digit pin…….
Like its predecessor, the UBOX 3, the TV channels can be accessed by selecting “Live TV” but unfortunately, the language for the TV channels is stuck on Chinese (just like on the older UBOX 3).
OMG! Look at all the content available. Over 7,000+ movies available to watch!
Not to mention the crazy amounts of TV channels available from south East Asia, including TV channels from Hong Kong, Taiwan, most of China, Japan, Singapore and many more. We also have tons of programs …
- TV series – 1600+
- Sports – 20 Channels
- Documentaries – 328
- Cartoons – 1295
Verdict and Conclusion
The UBOX 4 TV box is an amazing piece of AV equipment, which I think is a “must have” for anyone who wants to have access to 1,000’s of movies and TV series for FREE. Yes, it’s FREE. The menu system is fairly simple to use and unit is fairly stable, although I did encounter some stutter/lag when using wifi at full 1080 HD. So I recommend you use a LAN cable to get the full 100MB speed.
Interestingly, you and download and install your own apps via the UB Market App store. I found KODI and various repositories. What you do with it is up to you. We do not condone any piracy or illegal copyright infringement.
