MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ Chassis Review

Conclusion and Verdict

This is our first ever PC build using mostly MSI components. And I have to say, I was really happy how it turned out, and surprisingly pleased with how easy it was to build.

The MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ as the name suggests, offers plenty of airflow options. you can mount up to 13 x 120mm cooling fans, and up to 3 x 360mm radiators or AIOs for maximum cooling performance.

Measuring 485 mm (L) x 235 mm (D) x 518 mm (H) in dimensions, it’s suitable for variety of motherboards including ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX and EATX, as well as reverse-connection motherboards, such as MSI Project ZERO.

If you’re concerned whether this chassis can fit a full size graphics card, there’s no need to fear. It can support a maximum length of up to 400mm. For our PC build, we installed a MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Vanguard SOC Launch Edition (which takes up 3 PCIE slot space and measures 360mm in length). It fitted nicely with no issues at all.

There is one thing I need to mention. The PCI bracket of the chassis, where you secure your graphics card is covered by 4 access holes which I find don’t fit my screw drivers! I had extreme difficulty trying to secure and screw down the graphics card on to the PCI bracket. In other words, you’ll need a very thin srew driver with a long shaft.

Installing the PSU was a breeze. I especially like the easy to remove PSU cover. The chassis can support PSU sizes up to a maximum length of 200mm. We used the MSI MPG A1000GS PCIE5 PSU, which measured 150mm in length.

As for the motherboard, we used the MSI MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WiF, which is full size ATX motheboard and this fitted nicely with enough space inside the chassis for connecting the PCIE and ATX power cables.

If you need to install extra SSD storage, there’s room to mount up to 4 x 2.5“, 1 x 3.5“ and 1 x 2.5″/3.5″ combo at the back of the chassis.

The 2 x 160mm pre-installed ARGB fans in the front of the chassis are an added bonus. These fans feature a DUAL LAYER BLADE design with 3 manual fan speed control, and this allow users to optimize cooling performance and airflow. And if that’s not enough, you can mount an additional 13 x 120mm fans if needed.

Other nice features include a EZ PSU cover, EZ bracket for mountng AIOs and cooling fans, a pre-installed GPU holder, and Removable dust filters.

You can buy the MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ Chassis from Newegg for aorund USD $199 (CAD $229). Alternatively, you can buy the chassis from Amazon for around USD $199 – https://amzn.to/3ZsfSjr

Final Thoughts

The MSI MPG VELOX 300R AIRFLOW PZ chassis offers plenty of cooling options and effortless assembly. Thanks to its 2 x pre-installed 160mm ARG fans with a dual blade design, it’s perfect for system builders and enthusiasts who wants to build powerful gaming rigs with good thermal performance.
