Zotac ZBox Blu-Ray Mini PC (HD-ID34BR) Review

System Properties

The Intel’s new ATOM D525 processor feature 2 physical processing cores and 2 hyper-threaded cores … in effect, you get 4 cores as shown below. Also, notice all the other components as well … including the Nvidia ION onboard graphics, slim Blu-Ray rom, 250Gb Samsung hard drive and USB3.0.

Everest Memory and Chipset

Thanks to 2Gb of DDR2-800 ram, the Zbox Blu-Ray HD-ID34BR produced some pretty good results in our Everest memory test. With a read speed of 4372 Mb/sec and a write speed of 3644 Mb/sec, it’s faster than most netbooks on the market.

During our tests, we also measured the overall temperature of the Zbox Blu-Ray HD-ID34BR during normal operation. I have to say … I wan’t that impressed. The CPU reached 67 degree Celsius, while the onboard ION graphics chipset easily hit 66 degrees Celsius … it was something which I didn’t expect. At this temperature, it’s not perfect but the system can handle it. I’m always wary about operating temperatures, especially when you can feel the hot air being blown out of the exhaust port.
