Noctua NH-U12S TR4-SP3 AMD Threadripper CPU Cooler Review

Closer Look / Product Photos

The NH-U12S TR4-SP3 cooler arrived in a retail package which has a similar design to every other Noctua cooler package. In not so large box we will find everything required for installation so mounting kit, the fan, rubber pads, high-performance TIM and the manual.

The NH-U12S supports 120mm fans. We can install up to two fans but one is in the package. Of course one is enough, especially since it’s the NF-F12 model which offers high air pressure and spins up to 1500 rpm. As all new Noctua fans, this one is also really quiet and should offer better performance than competitive fans.

Five thick heat pipes are covering the whole base of the cooler. The base itself is made of nickel plated copper so about the same as in previously reviewed Noctua coolers.

Also the same as in previously tested coolers, there is no problem to use tall memory modules. In this case, it’s even easier as the heatsink is not so wide. Also because of the heatsink height, it should fit into every standard ATX case. Most new models have space for at least 160mm coolers, while the NH-U12S has 158mm with the installed fan.

Some more photos as there is never enough of them.

On the next page, we will take a closer look at the performance of the NH-U12S cooler.
