Kingston Fury Impact 64GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM Memory Kit Review

Package and its Contents

FURY Impact arrived in a retail package, which is a small, flat box. The box is quite standard and similar to that of Kingston Value RAM. The main difference is the FURY label.

The package contains two memory modules, a warranty and installation guide, and a Kingston Fury logo sticker. This is enough to install our brand-new RAM. The installation is straightforward, and even less advanced users can handle it without problems.

The 5600MT/s memory kit does not look much different from other SODIMM DDR5 modules. Again, the main difference is the FURY Impact label, which covers the whole side of the RAM.

Since it’s a memory designed for laptops, it doesn’t have any heatsinks or RGB. The required size doesn’t allow the use of heatsinks, and they’re not required since the memory uses a 1.10V voltage. RGB illumination wouldn’t have any point in a closed, tight space under a laptop’s cover. It would still be interesting to see SODIMM with RGB for SFF computers, but there are only a few gaming and enthusiast motherboards that use SODIMM, so a product like that wouldn’t sell well.

The tested memory kit uses Hynix A-die IC, the best choice for 32GB modules. It’s also rated to work up to 85°C. DDR5 can stand higher temperatures and shouldn’t lose stability if it’s not overclocked too high. The tested memory kit on our desktop ITX motherboard kept around 60°C without any additional airflow, so there is still quite a headroom if we wish to overclock it a bit.

If anyone thinks that 5600MT/s CL40-40-40 1.10V isn’t anything special, then I can only say nothing runs at tighter timings out of the box. Most of the competition sells only modules that match JEDEC specifications, so it’s usually 5600MT/s, but CL46-45-45 1.10V. As you can see, there is quite a gap in the main timings that in reality gives us about 3-4GB/s read and write bandwidth, but also about a 8-10ns lower latency if we look at AIDA64 benchmark results.
On the next page, I will tell you some more about the performance of the FURY Impact 5600MT/s memory kit.
