The Erebos Extension Laser Gaming Mouse Review

Performance

This is the first mouse I have tested while working for Funky Kit. Therefore, there isn’t much that I can compare the Erebos with anything I have written over before. I can only base my assessment on other gaming mice I have bought. The Erebos design was pretty awesome as we seen in the closer look page. Now I am excited to write about how much I loved the features that Gamdias provided with the Erebos gaming mouse! The ambidextrous side panels was a definite plus. I was able to tinker and customize the mouse to fit my hand very easily. Testing this gaming mouse for a little bit over 40 hours and at one point playing a FPS game for at least four hours left me with no discomfort what so ever. I used the medium side panel on the left side, which gave my thumb a very nice resting spot while playing. Keeping the smallest side panel on the right side of the mouse allowed for an easier access to the right sided buttons for my pinky and ring finger. You should mess around a bit to see what would be the most comfort for you, while also getting the most out of the Erebos features.

As you can see in the above picture that all of the lights worked once the mouse was connected to the PC. There were no drivers needed. The Gamdias logo lights up in a gold color which is the color that is used with most Gamdias logos. You are not able to customize the color or shut the light off for the Gamdias logo, which so far is the only complaint I would have for the Erebos. The scroll button lights up and is customizable with the Hera software. Once the software is downloaded, you will have access to 16.8 million different colors! Just would have loved being able to change the logo to match my scroll button. Having the DPI button was a nice touch. You are able to easily change the DPI settings on the fly by clicking that button. The Erebos clickers used in the mouse buttons are referred to as Omron Gaming Switches and has a lifecycle of 10 million clicks. While playing games I never once experienced a miss with any of the buttons and the mouse glided over almost any surface I could think of.

Software

Here is a little bit of what Gamdias says about their Hera software. I will get into a little bit of the details and features of using the software with the Erebos gaming mouse below.

HERA Application

Hera is at the core of all GAMDIAS products, it’s an integration software to unleash the power of GAMDIAS engineering!

HERA Software Highlights

Our HERA software, allows the user to customize their experience with our gaming peripherals. Users are able to switch their keyboard & mouse profiles simultaneously with one click. As you can see, the software used for the Erebos gaming mouse is called Hera. Hera is used for all Gamdias products which is nice if you are going to be using Gamdias for all of your gaming gear. I really loved using the intergrated UI software, Hera. There is a basic and advanced mode to choose from when tinkering with the Erebos. Both are fairly easy to maneuver and understand. Once the software is downloaded, it will detect the Erebos gaming mouse and start downloading any drivers and firmware needed. Make sure if you are downloading any other Gamdias device that you do each one separately. There is a chance to brick your devices if you try downloading the firmware at the same time as downloading the firmware of another device.

The pages for the Erebos gaming mouse in advance mode is key assignment, macro management, mouse control mouse luminance, assign sound and timer, sound file edit, timer setting and muscle memory. You are able to most of which in basic mode. The advance mode just goes into a bit more detail. On the right side of each page you will notice that the Erebos gaming mouse has 6 different profiles. Make sure that you have clicked the right profile that you are wanting to change on each page. The first page is where you would set each key, while on the second page you are able to control and change the macros. You are able to sync up your macros to match up with any other devices made by Gamdias. The mouse control page is where you are able to change cursor speed, vertical scroll speed, double click speed, polling rate, straight path correction, DPI level and lift off setting. You will want to spend a bit of time adjusting all those to fit each profile needs. The fourth page is where you are able to control and change the luminance of the scroll button. You are able to choose from 16.8 million different colors and brightness of the light. You are able to color code each profile, therefore you should always know which profile is being used. The next pages control the sound and timer options for the Erebos, while the muscle memory page tracks how the mouse is used. Lastly, we have the update and support page. Here you are able to download future software and firmware updates.

There we have it! The Erebos extension laser gaming mouse brought to us by Gamdias! Let us cover a few final thoughts in the conclusion of our review.
