Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 (Windows 8 Pro) Review

Verdict

Overall, I think the performance was OK … nothing to shout about. But if you really want to compare it to an iPad, there’s not doubt the iPad would win, especially with its Retina display, user friendliness and tons of apps … plus its cheaper.

However, having said that … I think the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 will attract a lot of business users who would want a light-weight tablet, capable of running Windows applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

And let’s not forget Skype, which is built-in as part of Windows 8. So you now also get excellent video conference and chat capabilities.

The build quality is good, better than I expected and the design isn’t too bad either. but it’s no head-turner, so don’t expect people to say … “Wow, what tablet are you using?”

Pricewise, the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 will cost you somehere in the region of around USD $680, which I think is expensive, especially, when it’s only using an Atom processor. If they bundled the keyboard dock, the digitizer pen and an extra 64Gb of SSD, then I would consider it … just maybe.

Pros:

  • Sleek design
  • Light-weight
  • Wide-screen (16:9)
  • Windows Pro 8
  • Excellent connectivity

Cons:

  • A little pricey for a tablet
  • Peformance limited by Atom processor

Final Words: All-in-all, the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 is a decent tablet that comes packed with decent features and excellent connectivity. It has all the bells and whistles for a business user. The only thing is … price.
