FSP Hydro PTM PRO 1350W ATX3.0 (12V-2×6) PSU Review

The Package and Contents

The PSU arrived in a retail package, which is precisely the same as the one of the previously reviewed 1200W unit. The only difference is the updated descriptions on the box. The package itself is well described with all the key specifications listed outside and even some graphics showing efficiency and noise levels, so we don’t have to browse the web if we are curious about this data. Of course, FSP has all the details on its website.

The package includes a power supply, modular cables, a user manual, screws, additional side stickers, and a power cord. Simply, everything we need for the installation.
Our version is designed for Taiwan, but the only difference is the power cord type. If we live in another area, then the PSU will be available with a compatible cable. Nowadays, it’s not a big problem as the PSU works at a full voltage range, suitable for every country, and power cords are available worldwide in online stores like Amazon.

The PSU itself looks great. The exterior is painted black, and it’s scratch-resistant. Of course, there are limits, but at least after installation, there won’t be anything visible. The paint job is as good as that of previously reviewed FSP PSUs. Additionally, we can change stickers on the side if we wish them to be in different colors. Stickers are included in the package, as you can see in the below photos.

On the back, we will find a power switch and an eco switch. The power switch is obvious, and the eco switch is designed to switch between semi-passive and active modes. Since the PSU is not heating much, we recommend the eco mode, as the fan will spin less, gather less dust, and live longer.

The eco mode starts to spin the fan above 30% PSU load, which is about 400W. This means the fan won’t spin during lighter work, watching movies, browsing the web, or even playing less demanding games on high-series graphics cards. If we use it on a mid-range graphics card like Nvidia RTX4070, then we can expect that the PSU fan won’t even start spinning.

The PSU is fully modular, so we can use as many cables as we need and skip additional ones to save space in the PC case. This helps in cable management and, depending on the PC case design, may also improve airflow. All cables are long and flat, which helps with installation and airflow later.

On the next page, we will take a closer look at the PSU and its performance.
