Conclusion and Verdict

The SP850, 850W PSU is probably the best SFX PSU reviewed by me so far. The PSU performs great, looks amazing, and runs quietly. The new power connector is a good addition that makes this unit future-proof and simply a good investment if we are planning upgrades in the future.

The high efficiency and high power of the PSU cause that we can use top-performing components and build a very strong gaming PC. The SP850 should run without issues with the fastest graphics cards and processors and is also prepared for the upcoming Nvidia power-hogs from the upper shelf.

The build quality is very high. All the capacitors are Japanese, which is already standard in high-end PSUs. Most cables are braided, so we won’t have to use replacements or extensions so they look exceptional. It saves us some money if we are into modding and other customizations.

A five-year warranty covers the SP850 850W PSU. The manufacturer is clearly not afraid about the quality of its product. On the other hand, some competitive PSUs have up to ten years of warranty. I only wonder who will use such a long warranty as a typical life of a gaming PC is no more than three years.

The MSRP of the SP850 is $149.99. It’s not available in stores yet, but it’s on the way as we write this article. It’s definitely not cheap, but competitive products at such high wattage cost even more or offer less. The Lian Li SP850 is an amazing little PSU that delivers full 850W power to the most demanding configurations. It’s perfect for small, but also large PC builds where stability is the most important. Since there are barely any SFX PSUs on the market that offer such a high wattage and a great design, it’s hard not to recommend the SP850 from Lian Li.
