Package and its Contents
The SC740 SSD arrived in a retail package that is a blinding pink, similar to some previously reviewed ADATA SSDs. The package highlights the product name and capacity. The exterior is well-described with general specifications, support contacts, and various product and serial numbers.
Inside the package, we will find an SSD and a brief user’s manual. We won’t need anything else for the installation. The ADATA SSD ToolBox mentioned on the previous page of this review is available for download from the ADATA website; however, it is not required.
Since it’s an external storage device, all we have to do is connect the SSD using the built-in cable. It doesn’t require any additional power supplies or other equipment.
The SSD is designed to protect the data in case it is exposed to moisture or drops on the ground. The build quality is quite good, so even though we didn’t conduct any more demanding endurance tests, we trust that it protects our data in typical daily usage.
The SC740 SSD is relatively small for portable storage. It’s still slightly larger than the smallest portable SSDs, but the USB-C cable is built-in and the enclosure has additional protection. I’m glad to see that ADATA, as one of the only brands, decided to use a connection cable that we won’t have to carry separately, and we never lose it.
On the back of the SSD are the product’s name, serial number, and product numbers, as well as various certificate logos. Below you can see how the SSD looks on both sides.
We will demonstrate the SC740 SSD’s performance on the next page of this review.
