Package and its Contents
Crucial refreshed the package design recently. It includes the same information, but looks better. We will find an SSD and a quick user guide in the box, which contains everything we need for the installation. The installation is straightforward, so it doesn’t require any detailed manuals. Although some users may still experience this issue, it’s advisable to consult the Crucial or motherboard manuals for further guidance.
The P510 is available in two versions – with and without a heatsink. We decided to test the no-heatsink version as it fits all devices, including laptops and computers with their cooling solutions. Although the P510 runs significantly cooler than higher series PCIe 5.0 SSDs, it’s recommended to use additional cooling, such as a heatsink or at least improved airflow in the computer’s case.
The SSD is a standard 2280 size with a wholly black PCB and labels, featuring white fonts printed on both sides of the SSD. There is a lot of info on this small surface, but we won’t ever need most of it.
The SSD will be tested on the latest Intel Core Ultra 200 platform, which includes a high-end Z890 motherboard equipped with large heatsinks that cover the SSD.
We will demonstrate the P510 SSD’s performance on the next page of this review.
