Package and its Contents
The X10 4TB SSD retail package contains the SSD, USB-C cable, and a multilingual quick-start guide. We will find general specifications, additional features, and contact support on the exterior. In short, everything that a regular user needs to know.
The X10 doesn’t require any guide. All we need to do is connect the USB cable and use it. For optimal performance, we require a device with USB ports that support at least 20 Gbps, specifically USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 or higher. The X10 is backward compatible with any USB standard, but it should be noted that it will work significantly slower on older generation USB ports.
The X10 shares the general design with the previously reviewed X9, X9 Pro, and X10 Pro SSDs. The main differences are the material used and the enclosure’s color. The X10 features a durable, blue plastic enclosure. It’s compact and lightweight. Since the X10 maintains low temperatures, it doesn’t exhibit thermal throttling and doesn’t require a special metal enclosure to dissipate heat.
Once again, during the review of the portable SSD, I revisit my thoughts on the inclusion of a built-in USB cable. It would be great if I didn’t have to remember to carry the cable, and it would take up less space. Perhaps designers will catch on to the idea and create a truly one-piece, portable SSD. The X10 is pocket-sized, but the USB cable takes as much space as the SSD itself.
The SSD is resistant to water and dust and should also survive drops from a height of 2m. This is precisely what we expect of the portable SSD.
We will demonstrate the X10 SSD’s performance on the next page of this review.
