Product Photos and a Closer Look
The FURY Renegade package is a small box with a window on the back to check the SSD’s serial number. Kingston SSDs, without heat sinks, typically have a cardboard package with transparent blister protection.
We won’t find much inside the package. There is only an SSD, but that’s about everything we may need to start using the FURY Renegade G5.
Kingston offers Acronis cloning software with all SSDs. It’s a handy tool that may save us the long hours required for software reinstallation. The installation guide is under the link—click.
The FURY Renegade G5 has a black PCB, a black label, and a large FURY sign. The back also has a label with all the numbers and safety certification logos. Under the label, we will find the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller, Micron 32Gb/4GB LPDDR4-4266 cache, and rebranded TLC NAND chips.
The SSD doesn’t require a heatsink, but we can use a motherboard’s heatsink to keep temperatures even lower. We have been waiting for an SSD like the Renegade G5 since the PCIe 5.0 generation was released. It’s one of the first SSDs that gives us everything in one package—top performance, low temperatures, and standard size without using oversized heatsinks or active cooling.
The SSD looks excellent, and its design should match every gaming PC. It’s less important in the PS5 console as the SSD isn’t visible, but some users care that the product has a top design, regardless of whether they see it.
On the next page, we will look closely at the test results.
