Silicon Power P34A60 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD Review

Performance

Performance has been tested on the latest AMD Ryzen platform which contains AMD R7 3700X processor and ASRock X570 Extreme4 motherboard.

All tests were performed in Windows 10 Pro x64 with the latest updates.

Let’s begin with ATTO Disk Benchmark which is one of the most popular applications designed to measure storage bandwidth.

ATTO is usually showing lower maximum bandwidth than we are expecting to see so just as a reference, above are our results in the latest version of ATTO benchmark.

 

CrystalDiskMark is much more interesting and more popular. The P34A60 performs not bad but a little shy of declared 2200MB/s read. Depends on benchmark settings we can see declared read speed but at default settings it a bit lower. The write bandwidth is above the declared, reaching 1691MB/s.

The most interesting is random bandwidth, especially in Q1T1 tests. We can see over 67MB/s read and 230MB/s write what is a result of higher and more expensive series SSD. This is also the value which is suggesting expected performance in most typical applications. Most programs use random access to data so this is what seems more important in daily work.

Below we can see results in PCMark benchmarks. These benchmarks are designed to simulate daily work in a typical home and office environment. The performance looks well, what we wouldn’t expect of a DRAMless SSD design.

 

PCMark 10 storage tests are also showing some nice numbers. Even though it doesn’t look like a world record then 200-300MB/s during random operations is pretty high.

 

In the end Anvil’s Storage Utilities. It’s a benchmark that usually shows lower bandwidth than expected but at least, in this case, results are not bad. Again, the most important will be bandwidth in random operations and that looks high.

To be convinced of the high performance of the P34A60 SSD, we have to analyze test details. Sequential bandwidth results are not the best but as I mentioned, once we take a look at the random performance or results based on benchmarks that simulate real-life workload then we see that the P34A60 has a lot to offer, considering it’s a budget series SSD.
