The 2TB version of UD90 has a declared maximum bandwidth of up to 5000MB/s read and up to 3200MB/s write. Most modern laptops can make even more. Steam Deck consoles won’t make more than 3500MB/s, while all newer handheld consoles support even more than 5000MB/s. Considering that random bandwidth is the most crucial factor, the UD90 is just right for modern handheld consoles, but it isn’t the fastest option.
The UD90 can be found with different controllers and NAND. It will still be QLC NAND, but the manufacturer gives a high TBW factor of 1200TB for the 2TB version of the UD90 SSD. Most new M.2 2230 SSDs use QLC NAND because of higher capacity and lower cost.

The SSD arrived with a 0-hour counter and was in perfect condition. CrystalDiskInfo shows that it is brand new without SMART errors or used cells.
The idle temperature is around 35°C, which isn’t the lowest but perfectly fine. The UD90 could reach 70°C during the load, which isn’t low, but typical for those small SSDs. We couldn’t see thermal throttling in our tests, which is a good sign, as some M.2 2230 SSDs have temperature problems.
On the next page, we will look at the SSD itself and the package contents.
