Package and its Contents
The package includes the UD90 2TB SSD and nothing else, as everything we may need is printed on the package exterior and interior. We will find general specifications, additional features, and contact support on the exterior.
The UD90 is designed for laptops and handheld consoles of the new generation, so it requires nothing else. The installation itself is straightforward, so that everyone can handle it. If we aren’t sure what to do, the device where we plan to install the SSD will have a proper manual.
The only real requirement for optimal performance is an M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 socket. Every modern motherboard is equipped with at least one of those. The only exception is still the popular Steam Deck, which uses an M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 socket, so it’s limited to about 3.5GB/s. All newer laptops and gaming consoles will have a PCIe 4.0 socket
The drive, including the PCB, heatsink, and labels, is black, which makes it match perfectly with every PC. Of course, we won’t see it as it’s installed under enclosure covers, but it makes a better impression than a standard-looking SSD with a green PCB.
The UD90 SSD will be tested on the Gigabyte X870E AORUS Pro ICE, which won’t limit the SSD.
We will show you how the UD90 SSD performs on the next page of this review.
