TeamGroup T-Force M200 1TB USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Portable SSD Review

Performance

The performance has been tested on the gaming PC with ASUS Z790 APEX motherboard and in the Win11 Pro x64 environment. Everything else is less important as it doesn’t affect the M200 USB SSD performance.

Let’s begin as usual with the ATTO Disk Benchmark.

Results in the ATTO benchmark are, as usual, slightly lower than expected but still not so far from the 2GB/s mark.

CrystalDiskMark shows us exactly what we wish to see, so 2GB/s sequential read and write. The benchmark also shows high random bandwidth results. RND4K Q1T1 is about as high as the fastest SATA SSD. Considering that the M200 works on USB, then it’s a fantastic performance. If we need to, then we can run games directly from the M200 or use more demanding tasks if we are into content creation.

In PCMark 10, the results are also exceptional for the USB SSD. Because of the interface, the M200 is limited in this benchmark, but the results are still respectable.

We are not using 3DMark Storage Benchmark for USB SSD often, but since the M200 performs so well in other tests, then why not?
The score is not the highest, but at the same time, one of the best we could see on a portable SSD.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a rather old benchmark but is still popular. This benchmark usually shows lower results than the ATTO or the CrystalDiskMark. In fact, we can see lower-than-expected bandwidth on the M200 SSD.

In the end, the AIDA64 Disk Benchmark – Read Test Suite. Random read and random write tests take way too long on USB devices and do not give us results that could be translated into daily work on portable storage, so I skipped them in this review.

Results in AIDA64 may not be as high as we hoped, but they are not far from the expected. The benchmark shows us low CPU utilization and still a stable 1.7GB/s+ bandwidth in multiple tests.

The M200 is one of the best-performing portable SSDs on the market. It’s also available at up to 8TB capacity, so I’m sure it will be a very interesting option for all who are searching for a reliable and fast portable SSD.
