Package and Contents
The X2 MAX SSD arrived in a compact retail package made of cardboard. It’s a slight change compared to previous products, which also included plastic. The package contains a brief product description, but for more details or an installation manual, we must visit the TEAMGROUP website. On the other hand, a USB flash drive doesn’t require a manual. We connect the USB, and it works.
The only requirement for optimal performance is a USB-A or USB-C port with a 10Gbps bandwidth. Not every device has such a port, but it is becoming common in new devices, including smartphones. If we connect it to an older generation USB port, then it will still work, but not as fast as we wish.
Considering the size, the SSD is very fast. There are barely any competitive products, and all we have already tested are slightly larger and less convenient to use. Most other brands offer portable SSDs that are approximately twice the size of the X2, and they require a USB cable for connection. In contrast, the X2 doesn’t require any cable and is the size of a medium thumb drive.
Below are additional photos with both caps removed. It’s probably the only disadvantage that caps are easy to lose.
On the next page of this review, I will provide more details about how the X2 MAX performs in tests.
