Diamond Multimedia’s R9 380 Graphics Card Review

Conclusion and Verdict

I really enjoyed testing the R9 380 from Diamond Multimedia! It was definately a learning experience for me. This was the first video card I have ever tested. I was more in tune to the E sports side of gaming before writing for this review site. If you think I missed a test or should have had more information in the video, please send me a message through my twitter account @Berry23M. Feel free to give me a follow while you are at it! While the test scores were fairly comparable to the 285x, the R9 380 from Diamond Multimedia had some features that would have pushed me into buying this card over the 285.

Diamond Multimedia produced a great card. The overall build quality of this video card was very solidly made! Not once during the installation process did I feel like I would break anything. This video card also has great cooling capabilities, a feature most gamers love! When overclocking the 285x the temperature rose to 70 degrees Fahrenheit fairly quiclkly, while the 380 never once went over 60.

This was due to the five heat sink pipes and two fans that the R9 380 has. The cooling capabilities allowed me to increase the performance level a great deal more then the 285x, giving me a much better gaming experience. Last thing I will mention is that I did test the decibel level of the R9 380. This card’s decibel level at idle was 44, while during the testing process the highest decibel level was at 55. That is fairly quiet compared to the 285x which garnered a decibel level of 67 during testing.

This video card, the R9 380 from Diamond Multimedia, can be found at various e- tailors for around 230 USDs.

Pros:

  • Amazing cooling capabilities
  • Great overclocking capabilities
  • Decibel levels fairly low
  • 4GB RAM allows better performance at higher resolutions.
  • Price

Cons:

  • None

Final Thoughts:

The R9 380 from Diamond Multimedia is a fairly well made video card! While the GPU (Tonga) is a rebrand of the 285x, this card out performed the R9 285x at every turn. The R9 380 has better cooling capabilities, overclocking capabilities, and more ram to max out your gaming experience! I would recommend this video card to anyone looking to upgrade their gaming experience, especially for the great price of 230 USDs.
