Spire X2.6018 Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Photos, The Case Interior

Now so you all saw the exterior of the case, let’s get to the more interesting interior.
The case has a lot of cool features plus my favorite: simple side panel removal! You just need to unscrew the thumb screws and pop off the side panel.

thumb screws

I really love to see tool-less installation in cases, for that X2 did a really good job. The 5.25″, the 3.5″ Hard Drive slots and even the PCIe Slots are tool less. Only down side is if you want to install a 2.5″ HDD or an SSD you need an adapter.

A big CPU cutout is always nice, if you need to install or change a new CPU cooler you just need to unscrew on the front side and take off the backplate and not remove your whole motherboard just to install a CPU cooler.
As an extra X2 includes a partitioning board  to separate the CPU cooler and PCIe cards, it is a nice feature and if you don’t want to use it you can easily remove it.

Another thing i really miss in this case is fans. There is room for 4 fans in the case but there are no fans included with the case. I think we need at least one front intake fan and one rear exhaust fan.

Now the front panel cables

First we have the usual Power and Reset switch, the Hard Disk LED and the HD audio or AC’97. Then for connectivity we have a USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 WITH an internal motherboard plug! Which gives the case a much cleaner look. Another plus for X2.

We also have a fan controller that can control up to 4 fans with 1 Molex connector to power the whole thing. As last we have another molex connector forthe front blue LED’s.

At last we come to the cable management options

So we have 5 main cable holes, I like that but unfortunate there is no rubber grommets in it but I am happy we got some cable holes. There is one under the last 5.25″ Bay, two next to the motherboard with a special tray to keep it even more nice and clean, one next to the PSU and a small one beneath the motherboard. Next to the drive cage there is a big cutout you can also use for cables. These day’s cable management is a must for enthusiasts so you have superior airflow and can see your hardware better and just look cleaner if you have a window like this case.

Dust filters

The case is equipped with multiple dust filters on places where fans can be mounted
