Today we will be presenting the Viper V765 Blackout from Patriot. You may be very familiar with this keyboard already. This keyboard can easily be considered the “flagship” from Patriots lineup. The keyboard is highly rated among reviewers and even tops several lists, as keyboard of the year! So as this is my first time getting to experience this keyboard first hand, I will admit I have high expectations. Patriot offers either the Kailh white or red switches on this particular model. Today we have the white switches in front of us. I have yet to experience these so it will interesting seeing the difference between these and the “clicky” blue counterpart.
These are supposed to be just as clicky while requiring a little less effort in force. We will see if this is the case later in this review. The differences in switch types can be a little confusing for someone that has never encounter a particular type. And knowing which one you prefer is going to come down to just trying them out. I am not going to say “hey reds are better than blues” or “reds give you an advantage over blues in gaming”. All of this is different for each person. I know for a fact that I have no advantage of using my mouse at 16,000 DPI rather than 8,000. Sometimes I find the higher DPI harder to control. With that being said your personnel preference or comfort zone may be totally different than someone else’s. Finding the switch you are most comfortable with is going to be the key. Once you find a comfort zone, whether that be DPI setting or switch type, that is when your gaming experience will become more enjoyable.
The Viper V765 Mechanical RGB Keyboard comes with a full set of features including the first ever DIP LED box switch for maximum lighting effects! The Kailh Box Switches are water and dust resistant (IP56) to make your keyboard last longer and stay cleaner. The full size layout with compact design makes the Viper V765 the perfect option to take with you when you need it!
