ASRock X299 Creator Motherboard Review

Performance – part 2

Storage performance

The X299 Creator offers us multiple ways to connect storage devices. The most popular recently is probably the M.2 socket which is available in the PCIe and SATA version. Let’s start from M.2 PCIe tests performed on an OS drive – Samsung 970 EVO 250GB.

Above is the CrystalDiskMark and its bandwidth test which shows us over 3.5GB/s result.

Below are PCMark 8 and 10 results. These results are also great and are even more important because simulate a real-world workload.

USB performance

USB performance has been tested using the Crucial X8 SSD. Presented results are as high as expected for the latest USB controllers.

Network performance

The Creator offers us two LAN ports and a wireless connection. Since 10Gbit connection or AX standard WiFi is not available in our network then we are limited to the most popular standards.

The latest AX router is on the way to our redaction but because of delays in shipping, we can’t use it yet in our tests but be sure that it will appear in the not far future.

Above you can see our result with data transfers of a mapped NAS drive using LAN 1Gbit connection.

Below is a result made on a wireless connection with the same drive.

Both results are about as high as the maximum bandwidth of the NAS and used network connection. Simply as high as I was expecting.

Let’s move to some 3D benchmarks and games.
