Nvidia confirmed the new Ampere graphics cards will use a new 12-pin PCIe power connector, although these should be included with the new cards. The power draw for each Ampere card has been confirmed, with the RTX 3090 at 350W and RTX 3080 at 320W. This may well mean you’ll need to upgrade your PSU in order to accommodate the next-gen graphics cards. The RTX 3070 is a similar to the 2070 at 220W.



Now for the big question will this power supply power the new cards? Yes the power supply meets the requirements for the 3090 and everything below. For the 3090 you will need a minimum of 750W and 2 PCIe 8 pin connectors. This power supply offers the 750W and has a total of 5 8 pin connectors. So rest assured this power supply will work with the top tier, new cards.



One thing and the most important thing to remember when swapping out power supplies, IS NEVER REUSE CABLES FROM ANOTHER POWER SUPPLY! I would even caution this idea if its the same brand.
