Conclusion and Verdict
Ok so what do you get for 30 bucks. To be honest, you get a great sounding set of desktop speakers. These may be small and priced to move, but the sound exceeded my expectations. I was impressed how loud these speakers actually were. which I really impressive for something that’s the size of a grapefruit. Let hit on the price for a second. For 30 bucks you are going to struggle finding something with this small of a footprint while providing high quality sound. Creative knows sound and that really shows in the Pebble V2s. I have seen a few similar speakers in shape and size but I can bet that they don’t have near the soundscape that these do.
Let talk about the listening experience. I was pleasantly surprised by sound. I wasn’t expecting that much for 30 bucks and I was impressed when I turned them all the way up and found no noticeable distortion and the sound was just good. Each speaker has 2 actual speakers. One is the 2″ driver and the other is a passive subwoofer that is located on the back. The passive speaker really add depth to the sound. A lot of times when you put the juice to speakers you tend to get ready for the fireworks. Not with these they have an awesome balance of bass and treble. So no worries running them at full blast. The built in gain switch gives the speakers a total of 16W (compared to 8W when not active). I noticed a little difference in the sound. I would say the difference is dramatically different but you can tell it gives the speakers a little more push. I absolutely love the compact size and the angle of the speakers. I can have these in front of my monitor without them blocking my view. The wires are plenty long enough to put them were ever you please.
OK lastly, lets discuss connections. These are USB powered so you still need to utilize a 3.5mm jack for the sound. The power plug is a USB-C but Creative has included an USB-A converter for you use. Keep in mind you will need the USB-C power to be able to use the built in gain switch.
