ASRock X670E Taichi Motherboard Review

Today we’ll be taking a look at one of ASRock’s newest flagship motherboard – the ASRock X670E Taichi. It uses AMD’s latest X670E chipset and supports all the latest AMD Ryzen 7000 series of processors on the new AM5 socket (LGA1718).

It supports the new PCIE 5.0 standards for both graphics cards and M.2 NVME SSDs, as well as supporting DDR5 ram with speeds of up to DDR5-6600MHz (OC). I particulatly like the reinforced DIMM Slots, as well as the PCIe 5.0 steel slots + Surface-Mount Tech. It also features a powerful 24+2+1 Phase Power Design, and SPS for VCore+GT, which is provides extra stability especially when overclocking your processor.

For storage, it comes with a total of 8 x SATA3 ports, and 4 x M.2 slots for SSDs. These include 1 x Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen5 x4), 2 x Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4), and 1 x Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4 & SATA3) slots.

As far as expansion is concerned, the motherboard only has 2 x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, which may not seem a lot. But having said that, most additional add-on components can now be connected using the integrated USB 3.2 Gen1 & Gen2 ports, which is more than fast enough for most users.

For connectivity, it uses the Killer E3100 2.5G LAN and Killer AX1675 802.11ax (WiFi 6E) + Bluetooth 5.0. For audio, it features ESS SABRE9218 DAC and Realtek 5.1 CH HD Audio with WIMA Audio Caps.

We’ve test many Taichi models from ASRock over the years, but I’m particuarly excited with this one. The X670E Tachi is the first enthusiast-grade motherboard featuring AMD’s new X670E chipset supporting the latest Ryzen 7000 series (Zen 4 architecture – codename Raphael). We may finally have an AMD motherboard that can really compete with Intel, with results can could surpass our expectations.

The X670E chipset is AMD’s latest chipset supporting all the latest Ryzen 7000 series of processors on the new AM5 socket (LGA1718). It features a load of new technologies, but most notable is the supports DDR5 memory, and of course the latest PCIE 5.0 standard for both GPU and M.2 SSDs. Could this be one of the most significant next-generational jump in performance for AMD. Let’s take a closer look below …

I would like to thank ASRock for providing the review sample. This is a snippet from what ASRock has to say about themselves on their website:

ASRock Inc. is established in 2002, specialized in the field of motherboards. ASRock strives to build up its own brand. With the 3C design concept, “Creativity, Consideration, Cost-effectiveness”, the company explores the limit of motherboards manufacturing while paying attention on the eco issue at the same time, developing products with the consideration of eco-friendly concept.

ASRock has been growing fast and become world third largest motherboard brand with headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Europe and the USA. The young and vibrant company targets from mainstream to enthusiast MB segments for different kinds of users, owning reputation around the world market with its reliability and proficiency.

We’ll be testing the ASRock X670E Taichi Motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X (AM5) processor at default speed, along with 32GB of Thermaltake ToughRam XG RGB DDR5-6200, Adata Legend 840 PCIE Gen4 SSD, and an EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card. I’m expecting excellent performance from the above test rig, and it should be one of the fastest setups we’ve tested in our labs!

OK, let’s not waste any more time and begin by taking a look at the specifications and features in our next page.

You can buy the ASRock X670E Taichi motherboard for around USD $499 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3CQeNXP
