Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 (Rev. 2.0) Power Supply Review

Conclusion and Verdict

All said and done, I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 (rev. 2.0). It’s an extremely solid power supply that will more than satifsy the needs of the enthusiast and power user.

We tested the PSU on our test rig which is comprised of an Intel Core i9-14900K processor and has a Turbo Boost TDP of 253W+, along with the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER with a TBP of up to 320W. At 100% load, just these two components alone consumes a lot of power.

During our AIDA64 full load tests, the +12V line did not drop at all, and was rock solid at +12.096V. For the +5V line and +3.3V lines, again it was rock solid with no drops detected at all. Both were stable at +5.00V and +3.312V respectively.

In all my years of reviewing, I think the Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 (rev. 2.0) is one of the few power supplies, that offers rock solid stability on all 3 voltage lines, without a single drop at 100% full load. So in that respect, I have to say well done to Gigabyte for this achievement!

The power supply is certified 80 Plus GOLD, which means it offers a power efficiency of up to 87% at full load. You get peace of mind. And this means you can install just about any power-hungry components, without having to worry whether the PSU can handle it or not.

Cable management is a breeze thanks to the flat modular cables. Thpe package also includes a 16pin 12VHPWR cable for next-gen graphics cards (labelled 600W). It’s quite reassuring to know that it can handle high-end, power-hungry graphics card. However, the PSU only comes with 3 x 8-pin PCIE connectors, which I think isn’t really enough. I would have preferred 4 or 5 to be honest.

The power supply does not come with any RGB nor does it feature any ECO fan on/off switch. But Gigabyte claims that the fan speed is adjusted accordingly to the automatic power detection, and stops when the system is idle or under low load.

You can buy the Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 (Rev. 2.0) Power Supply for around USD $195 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3vqXawV

Final Thoughts:

The Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 (Rev. 2.0) is a rock solid modular power supply, that can easily handle today’s most demanding and power-hungry components. It supports ATX 3.0/PCIE 5.0 standards, plus it’s certified 80 Plus Gold, and what’s more it features 100% Japanese capacitors, and comes with a massive 10 year warranty. It’ll be difficult to find a better PSU out there for sure.
