Conclusion

TEAMGROUP delivers storage devices and memory products to users of various needs. It didn’t take long to support such a narrow group of gamers as hand-held users in their daily challenges. The MP44S is designed especially for gamers, but not only, as it fits ultrabooks and other small and slim mobile devices. Those users also don’t have many upgrade options, as the M.2 2230 SSD is difficult to find in online stores and even harder if you expect a high capacity and speed.

The MP44S isn’t the fastest SSD, but it still offers exceptional performance in its class. Sadly, the SSD throttles during extended workloads, making it perform worse than expected. It’s probably the only disadvantage we could find, but as I mentioned, it shouldn’t affect the gaming experience for which the MP44S is designed.

The TEAMGROUP MP44S 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD costs around $85.84 in the Amazon store. The price has reduced by about $10 since I started writing this review, so I don’t expect it will be much lower anytime soon. M.2 2230 SSDs are quite expensive, but the MP44S is one of our cheapest options.

TEAMGROUP also gives a 5-year warranty for the MP44 series SSD, which confirms that the brand is sure of the high quality of its product. Not many SSDs have such an extended warranty, especially those with QLC NAND.

Final words:

Even though the MP44S is not the best SSD we’ve seen, it gives good performance, high capacity, and a reasonable price for all those who can’t live without gaming, even on the go. We could say it’s a perfect SSD for Steam Deck and other mobile consoles, if not for the occasional thermal throttling and quite low TBW rate. Still, the SSD compensates it with high performance for its small form factor, affordable price, long warranty, and good availability.
