Hyte Y70 Mid-Tower Chassis Review (Non-Touch)

Conclusion and Verdict

While the original Y60 was a fantastic, award-winning chassis, it became evident that its compact size was slightly overwhelmed by larger and larger PC components, such as the latest GeForce graphics cards which can measure up to 380mm. And one other limiting factor, was that there was only one option to mount a single 360mm radiator on the top of the chassis.

Hyte have taken this feedback seriously, and now they’ve launched a new and upgraded chassis named Y70, which addressed some of those problems I mentioned.

The Hyte Y70’s ginormous interior (70.7L volume) features a massive 4 slot vertical graphics design, which means you can install the largest and most powerful graphics cards with ease (up to 422mm in length). In our case, we used the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER which has a length of 334mm.

NOTE: The Hyte Y70 (touch and non-touch) ONLY support vertical mounting of graphics card. There is NO option to install the graphics card horizontally.

After playing around with the Hyte Y70 (non-touch) for several weeks, I have to say … it’s probably one of the best looking chassis I’ve looked at so far. The 3-piece panoramic glass panels (2 of which are removeable) allows users to show off every detail of all the hardware inside your PC.

One of the things I like about the Hyte Y70 is its tool-less design. No more loose screws or messing around with the screw driver. Just pop-out the panels with a simple tug and lock them back in place with gentle push.

During our PC build, we used an Asus Strix Z790 Gaming-E WiFi motherboard, which is a standard ATX size motherboard. We also used a Thermaltake TH360 V2 Ultra AIO cooler, which we mounted on the side side of the case. The whole PC build included a total 8 cooling fans and a massive GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card. Needless to say, all of the components fitted nicely inside the chassis with no issues whatsoever. So as far as installtion goes … it’s super easy.

The front I/O panel inclues 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-C), 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1, audio jack, and a power-on switch. All pretty standard, except there’s nio reset button.

If you’re a watercooling enthusiast, you’re probably wondering if you’ll be able to mount a distro-plate on the front of the chassis. Well, Hyte doesn’t mention of any support for mounting a distro-plate on the front, but I’m sure this can be done on the side of the chassis.

And since the Hyte Y70 (non-touch) doesn’t have the LCD front panel … you’re probably also asking whether you can purchase the LCD panel separately for a future upgrade. The answer is no.

It’s clear to me that the Hyte Y70 is a unique looking case, that has plenty to offer in terms of space and cooling options. If you don’t need the more expensive LCD version of the case (Hyte Y70 Touch – USD $359), then the standard Hyte Y70 is all you’ll ever need to build a gorgeous looking PC.

You can buy the Hyte Y70 (Non-Touch) Chassis for around USD $219.99 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3Tn75g2

Final Thoughts

You won’t find a better looking chassis than the Hyte Y70 (non-touch) with it’s stunning 3-piece panaoramic glass panels. It features a tool-less deisgn and has plenty of cooling options. It’s also very spacious thanks to its ginormous interior, allowing you to fit the largest and most powerful graphics card with ease. Build your next ultimate gaming PC with the Hyte Y70 (non-touch).
