The Box and Packaging
The box contains the mouse, a braided USB-C cable, a USB-C wireless dongle, an extension adapter and the usual product information guide.
The Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless Mouse
The mouse is super light-weight and weighs in at only 68g, thanks to its perforated casing and ultra-thin PCB. The mouse is comfortable to hold in the hand, and the buttons are easily accessible.
I love the contoured shape of the mouse, and the 100% Virgin Grade PTFE Glide Skates, which gives the mouse the smoothest swipes and enhanced control for super light mouse movement.
There are 6 programmable buttons on the mouse, one of which allows you to control the speed of the mouse pointer, which I think is fantastic (the button above the scroll wheel). There are also 3 RGB Zones on the mouse, and this can be controlled by the SteelSeries Engine software which you can download here.
Verdict and Conclusion
The original MSRP of the Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless Gaming Mouse was listed for USD $130, but you can actually get it on sale right now for only USD $55 from Amazon (https://amzn.to/3XU52jU), which I think is absolute bargain!
According to Steelseries they claim that the AEROX 3 Wireless can deliver up to 200 hours of battery life … that’s if you switch to Bluetooth mode. On regular 2.4GHz wireless, it’s more like 80 hours (up to) with default lighting.
The mouse comes with a 18,000 cpi optical sensor, 6 programmable buttons and 3 Zone RGB lighting which can adjusted using Steelseries Engine software. The mouse also features Steelseries all-new Quantum 2.0 Wireless technology that transmits wireless data at unreal speeds in a more stable, reliable, and power efficient way. This is available on both the 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.0.
I have to say his mouse is exceptionally light-weight, weighing in at only 68g. What’s more it’s rechargeable, extremely comfortable to use, and offers IP54 dust and water resistance. What most impressed me was smooth movement of the mouse, thanks to its Pixel-perfect TrueMove Air optical gaming sensor and 100% Virgin Grade PTFE Glide Skates.
I also like the USB-C connector on the mouse, why? Well, it’s universal and this means I can plug-in any USB-C cable to charge the mouse, or have the cable plugged in and use it as a wired mouse (while it charges). The only thing is … the 2.4GHz wireless dongle is USB-C only, so make sure you have one on your laptop or PC. May be it’s me, but there is one small irritating issue … I find the Bluetooth responsiveness a bit laggy.
